La Camera is a Melbourne institution. Its riverside location gives fantastic views of the Yarra River and the CBD, especially at sunset. A classic Italian restaurant, serving up pizza, pasta, salumi (sliced meats like prosciutto and salami), salads and more.
One time I came here they were serving “Italian Yum Cha” with small serves of their favourite dish wheeled around on carts. They’re not afraid to experiment and try different things!

Hanging for something substantial, I chose the rigatoni. The pasta was perfectly al dente, with lots a smokey prosciutto, and a rich tomato sauce.

Janeca had the Tortelloni allo scoglio. She said the crab, prawn and ricotta filling was very fresh and delicious. Tasted like it was homemade!
On the side, some greens cooked with a splash of olive oil and garlic. Very light, this is a great healthy accompaniment for any dish.

Shout out to our waiter, who was in training, but still giving it his best. In fact all of the staff there were super proffesh! We always have a great time there. If you want great Italian food in Southbank, I’d recommend La Camera.
