December is the time when families come home from overseas, and my cousin, Zac, is no exception. He suggested we visit popular St Kilda hotspot, Uncle. This Vietnamese fusion venue has a bar downstairs, and a restaurant upstairs. If the weather is good, you can grab a seat outside. They have a very impressive and detailed allergy menu for those who require.

Their Asian fusion take on San Choi Bao was light and refreshing, but one on measly prawn. They should put in two to elevate this dish to a must-order.

The brisket was tender and richly flavoured. The accompanying acidic pomelo salad had provided a welcome contrast. Side dish – Roti was warm and fresh, a must order!

There was a full wine menu, but being summer, we decided to go with the sangria. It was fruity, generous and totally shareable drink.
The menu offered a selection of dairy-free desserts! The spring rolls were delightfully sweet and crispy. The shiso filling took a bit of getting used to. Coconut ice cream was nice and light, with a yummy mango sauce.

With excellent service, an outstanding allergy menu and scrumptious food Uncle is a great choice for those dining out in St Kilda
